The Champions For Children Foundation is a Canadian Charitable organization created in 1992.

 

Our charitable registration number is 89754 6735 RR 0001.

 

Champions For Children Foundation is the fund raising foundation of the Children's Aid Society of Ottawa and our purpose is to fund prevention programs that are not funded through government funding. It is only through the support of individual donors, corporations, other foundations and events that we raise funds for these important projects.

We believe children have a right to grow up in families where they feel loved, safe and secure - where smiles and laughter are a part of everyday life.

 

However over hundreds, perhaps thousands of children in our very own community will not experience the joys of family life. For these children, neglect, physical, emotional or sexual abuse will be a reality. These children and youth are more likely to suffer from low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence and experience difficulties in establishing relationships with others.

 

Preventing abuse and neglect through the promotion and funding of our Pillars Prevention Programs is the Champions For Children Foundation's mission.

 

Studies show that prevention is the key. In fact, every $1 spent on prevention saves as much as $7 in the long-term, resulting in lower costs for health care, social services, remedial education and welfare.

 

Millions and millions of dollars are spent annually in Ottawa to investigate the abuse and neglect of children and youth yet less than $1 million is spent on preventing it from happening at all.

 

The key to prevention is breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect.

 

Prevention programs work but we cannot do it alone. With your support, we can help make a wise investment - an investment that will give these children the opportunity to build a better and brighter future. The well being of the children and youth of Ottawa is the responsibility of the entire community.
